I'm João, an experienced professional with over 15 years of expertise in the veterinary world - across 3 different continents and 4 countries!
Beyond my clinical skills, I hold a PgCertVBM (a postgraduate certificate in veterinary business management) from the University of Liverpool, adding an extra layer to my qualifications. In my most recent venture, I successfully created a revolutionary veterinary business from scratch, adopting a completely novel membership concept instead of pay-as-you-go services. Alongside my business partner, I was involved in all aspects of the start-up, from selecting the ideal business location to establishing relationships and negotiating payment terms with manufacturers and suppliers. I also built a winning clinical and non-clinical team from scratch – ensuring everyone was on board with the vision.
My passion is deeply rooted in championing a better model for veterinary practices, where all stakeholders — owners, pets, and teams — thrive in a more compassionate and sustainable environment. And, with a focus on effective use of time and resources, I’m always looking to increase the profitability of the business whilst maintaining (or even reducing) the cost to clients.
With a dedication to excellence and continuous improvement, I've integrated state-of-the-art innovations such as modern and user friendly PMS, and shifted the focus from in-person consults to telemedicine and other digital resources into practices. These advancements not only streamline the business's operations, but also offer pets a less stressful experience and pet owners a more accessible and convenient service.
